One of my favorite wood carvers is Doug Linker on YouTube he was the one who inspire me to learn how to carve wood, so I've went to venture my self and carve a Native in a Blanket which is one of Doug's tutorials. I've carve the Native in Blanket in some hard Balsa Wood, I have no idea what kind of wood this is since I bought it again in one of the big box stores and is different from the last wood I've use. The thing with this wood is that once you start carving you get polished cuts but is very rough on the knifes. I've enjoy every minute of it, seeing how it came out makes me want to make more. The painting was fun, I usually use craft acrylics they are easy to apply and have bright colors. I've also make it antique with an antiquing medium and it looks great. Nevertheless this was an super fun experience.
