Starting another little neat wood carving project a Civil War Soldier Bust, following a tutorial by @coates6001 on YouTube. I have been taking time to carve more and more every day. In this particular case I'm using a new wood that I haven't use before that I've gotten from one of the big box stores. This wood is Juglans cinerea, commonly known as butternut or white walnut, is a species of walnut native to the eastern United States and southeast Canada. Is very light and grainy though, but cuts like butter. It's a little challenging working with this wood cause is so soft, you've got to be careful when cutting your figure. This is how my civil war soldier bust came out, I think I’m improving a little when it comes to shape and detail so much fun and relaxing. I did this in a evening drinking a nice warm coffee by my side there is nothing like home with a good vibe.
